Matsumoto Castle's black keep above its moat, with the red Uzumibashi bridge in front

Matsumoto Castle ticket for ages 6 to 15

Timed entry to the keep and garden for children of elementary and junior-high school age, booked with your party.

The ages 6–15 ticket admits one child of elementary or junior-high school age to Matsumoto Castle, on the same date and in the same 30-minute window as the adults they're with. It mirrors the castle's own fare for this age band. Children aged 5 and under go in free and need no ticket.

What the ticket covers

The same visit as the adult ticket: the Honmaru Garden and the six floors of the keep. Children tend to like the second-floor matchlock gun gallery and the costumed samurai and ninja greeters who walk the garden during the day.

Before you bring young children

The keep's stairs are narrow, steep and polished, with high steps, and the steepest flight climbs at about 61 degrees. Pushchairs stay at the management office or the keep entrance, and there are no toilets inside the keep, so a stop beforehand helps.

Children aged 5 and under go in free and need no ticket. Count only the children aged 6 to 15 when you book.
